The WoodMart was founded in 1956 as Howard Shutter Company on Balboa Avenue in Van Nuys, California. It served as the primary supplier of interior and exterior shutters for the growing San Fernando Valley area north of Los Angeles.
In 1972, it was sold, expanded, and moved to a new location on Arminta Street. The name was changed to The WoodMart.
In 1995, it was sold again to the present owners. The marketing emphasis was changed from both retail and wholesale to wholesale only in order to better serve a growing national market.
In 1997, a complete milling operation was added to manufacture all necessary shutter components in house.
In 1999, the assembly, finishing, and shipping departments were expanded to accommodate continued growth.
Finally in 2007 the entire operation was moved to it's present location on Strathern Street, still in Van Nuys. |
